Tonight was a yoga night! It's amazing how good those simple poses and mindful breathing exercises can make one feel. I have missed several yoga opportunities this summer, so it is good to get back into the routine. It's also one way I can experience a metaphysical connection in a group setting - finding my Spiritual Self in the company of others. But that's another topic.
I believe that it is so important for us to take care of our bodies. While we are Spiritual Beings first, we do have a duty - if you will - to maintain the vehicle that moves us through this world. I have talked to those who do not have this belief, and their health is poor because of the decisions they make. They believe that as long as their spirits are healthy, they need not care about the other parts.
I disagree. Whether we choose our bodies and our lives, or whether we land here by chance, the better care with give to our physical half, the better care we can give to our families, our friends, coworkers - the world.
If wellness is not part of your life, are you missing out on the chance to help someone in need? Are you missing out on the opportunity to travel somewhere, or experience something that may take some effort on your part so that can expand your Spiritual Self? Just a couple of questions to ask yourself.
So, while I too struggle to fit in some additional exercise in an already overly busy schedule, as I grow older, I recognize the importance of taking care of the "meat suit" *. We must take care of the whole package in order to have and to appreciate a full human experience.
With Best Blessings.
